Rahr Recycles

If you're like us, you can't bear to throw away a perfectly good Rahr & Sons six-pack carrier!

Bring 20 used Rahr six-pack carriers back to their home at the brewery and we'll welcome them back with a hearty handshake and 5 Rahrbucks that can be used either in the gift shop or as admission to a Wednesday or Saturday Tour & Tasting. Just one catch - the six-pack carriers must be in good condition before you can get the Rahrbucks (but the handshake is guaranteed regardless of how damaged or worn your carriers may be).

Doing our part to make Texas cows happy...

After each brew day, Farmer Jack - an officer of the Texas Hereford Association - brings a trailer to the brewery and hauls away more than a ton (literal weight) of spent grain left over from the brewing process. The grain is taken back to his farm as a special treat for his cattle (we hear they're particularly fond of the grain used to make Rahr's Red!). So, the next time you're driving down a Texas highway and you see a group of cows that really, truly seem to be smiling, feel free to smile and nod back at them because you know their secret.

Doing our part to make Texas bread-eaters happy too...

We're not the type of brewery to discriminate, so cows aren’t the only mammals to benefit from our used grain. The good folks at Artisan Baking Company in Fort Worth, Texas have been known to take the spent grain from a batch of Ugly Pug and turn it into loaves of Ugly Pug Jalapeño bread - and sometimes, when we’re really lucky, they’ll bring samples to the brewery to share during a Wednesday Tour & Tasting. So, you see, cows aren’t the only ones with a reason to smile.
