Saturday Brewery Tour & Tasting

alt

Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. opens its doors to the public every Saturday between 1pm and 3pm. It’s not only a good opportunity for you to see first-hand where and how your beer is made, but it’s also a great chance for us to meet you in person!

What to expect

You’ll be asked for your ID – we card everyone. There is a seven dollar entrance fee, but a tour of the brewery and a Rahr & Sons pint glass that will hold up to three beer tastings are no charge (the pint glass is yours to keep because we want you to have something to fondly remember us by). Don’t forget to bring the glass back the next time you visit the brewery because Rahr & Sons will give half the five dollar entrance fee to a selected charity of the week for each glass that is reused.

Once inside the brewery you can expect to line up for a pint of beer. After that, feel free to walk around our museum room/gift shop or find a spot at one of the picnic tables. Smoking is permitted on the back dock (not inside the brewery).

The guided tour typically starts at 2pm, near the place where you check-in (signs mark the way or you can just follow the crowd). If you’re lucky, the tour will be led by Fritz Rahr, Founder of Rahr & Sons (his family has a long history of brewing and he has some pretty good stories to tell). But don’t worry if one of our Assistant Brewers leads your tour – they’ve heard Fritz’s stories so many times they’re able to re-tell them with as much excitement and hand gestures as their fearless leader. And as an added bonus, they may have a story or two to share about Fritz that he would never share himself…

Don't worry if you can't find time to eat before visiting the brewery! We’ve teamed up with some of the best family-owned restaurants Fort Worth has to offer. Our rotating schedule means there’s something for everyone – and we work hard to feature vegetarian options when possible.

  • First weekend of the month: Burgers made by a place that has been serving Fort Worth since 1967. These hamburgers are made from the very best U.S.D.A. choice boneless chuck available. The natural vegetarian-fed, hormone, antibiotic and preservative-free beef is cut and ground fresh daily (we think this pairs perfectly with our additive and preservative free beer!). This is a Fort Worth family-owned restaurant and you can count on seeing the owner or his sons flipping burgers behind the grill at the brewery.
  • Second weekend of the month: Falafel, Gyros and hummus made by a Fort Worth family-owned place named for the northern Lebanese village of Chadra. With a bar full of Rahr taps, and located practically around the corner from the brewery, this is a popular lunch and dinner spot for Rahr staff. Look for their pizza and stomboli at our Wednesday Tour & Tastings too!
  • Third weekend of the month: Our beer pairs perfectly with Texas BBQ so we have invited not one, but two award-winning BBQ restaurants to the brewery for the last Saturdays of the month! First up, it's not a "long" shot to say this BBQ place serves up the tastiest smoked sausage, hamburgers and jerky made from 100% beef brisket.
  • Fourth weekend of the month: Wrapping up a month of food is more BBQ served by a Fort Worth family-owned place that has been around for over 25 years. Like the brewery, they’re nationally recognized and award-winning. They also like to call customers “distant Cousins” and the Rahr family really likes that.
Just for clarification, we’re not trying to be coy by not giving their names – we’re simply following guidelines set by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission which does not allow us to publicly list places that sell our products.
